The Opportunity:

For this Head of Finance position, you will primarily be managing a busy finance department within their head office in Newcastle.

Some of the key responsibilities for this successful person would be but no limited to:

  • Lead and mentor a small finance team of five
  • Participate in the development of a strategic business plan to meet group business objectives
  • Set up a robust and clear procurement process to be implemented across the group
  • Review current funding requirements and providers
  • Identify new funding opportunities for the organisation
  • Lead the financial management team, reporting directly to the Managing Director
  • Work closely with the MD on business efficiencies, some procurement and other projects
  • Lead the monthly reporting process, ensuring that information provided is accurate and delivered within agreed timescales
  • Work collaboratively with the Finance Manager to prepare annual budgets
  • Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure that the Finance department is working towards deadlines
  • Carry out timely and accurate preparation and reconciliation of financial information used to prepare monthly management accounts for a group of companies

The Candidate:

The successful Head of Finance will be/have:

  • Be a qualified or part qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or CIMA)
  • Or you may be qualified by experience, with relevant experience of supporting a growing organisation in a high-volume environment
  • Have successful experience in a similar finance role up to Director level
  • You will be comfortable working autonomously within an SME environment
  • Previous experience in a financial leadership position is important
  • Experience in the reconciliation of monthly financial information for multiple entities
  • Be confident in the use of Excel spreadsheets and Sage Line 50 Accounts
  • Be a confident team player, able to support and mentor finance staff
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are essential
