Here at Lookers plc we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join us as a Project Accountant. Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, the Project Accountant will assist with harmonising the Group’s accounting systems onto one common platform and operating in a consistent structure and framework. In addition, the Project Accountant will work with the finance team to deliver corporate development projects and M&A activity, as well as supporting operational finance where necessary.

Key Accountabilities

Advise and assist management in the development of the Group’s accounting systems and implementation of new systems into the franchise group.

Ensure delivery of the Group’s blueprint accounting system across each of the divisional finance accounting functions.

Ensure delivery of standardised accounting policies and procedures throughout the group.

Ensure management and governance of system post implementation.

Support senior and operational management to strengthen and develop the accounting policies and processes to ensure that adequate internal controls exist within the group.

Work across the Group’s dealerships to help resolve financial and accounting issues as appropriate.

Support the training of divisional financial controllers and their teams for changes in policies, procedures, controls and systems.

Support on other project related activities related to the harmonisation of the finance function.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have finance management experience within the Automotive sector. They will also have detailed CDK system / accounting knowledge and experience, experience with financial system implementation.

With strong interpersonal and influencing skills, they will have the ability to work between the project, finance and operational teams.

Excellent Microsoft 365 suite skills including Teams are essential, alongside strong analysis and critical thinking skills.

They will have the ability to present facts in a digestible format to facilitate key business decisions, with the confidence to challenge where appropriate.

A full UK driving license is desirable due to the travel required within the role.
